Apple Preparing Major Changes for AppleCare

Reportedly, Apple is planning  to change the way its popular AppleCare service works. According to the, the withstanding changes will make this service even more useful to their users.

According to an anonymous employee from the Cupertino based company, Apple held a meeting this past Thursday i.e. 9th May, 2013 where they discussed some of the major changes that could be done to their AppleCare customer service plans. The first major announcement, and potentially biggest announcement was that the company will no longer automatically replace devices with a new one. Apple Stores will be receiving more training and parts over the next few months which will allow them do virtually all repairs in store. According to the company officials, this will end up saving the company as much as $1 billion a year.

The next big news is to make the regular customers of Apple happy! For those consumers that own multiple Apple devices, you will probably be most excited by the report that Apple is looking into rolling out a subscription service which will attach the product care to the customer as opposed to the devices. Supposedly, this service would also include an “exclusive” support line that would be available 24/7. However this feature is not yet finalized currently. Even if you own as less as two Apple Devices,( for example an iPod and an iPhone etc), this subscription seems to be a pretty great deal!

Finally, there are talks to increase the 90 day complimentary service to as long as a year. This is not too surprising as Apple has been taking a lot of flak as of late around the world due to the short nature of its support windows.

While no firm dates were mentioned as to when these new plans might roll out, we are assuming that Apple is targeting this fall. It makes complete sense because we are expecting a lot of new products around that time. Also, it being the holiday season, Apple would like to target the maximum audience.

Hopefully, details will be released soon!
