eSports event sketch: National Esports Championships 2023, AKEF Gaming Utsav 2023 & BGMI Masters Series

eSports fans have been enjoying much excitement with several action packed events lately.

National Esports Championships 2023

Displaying exceptional teamwork and stellar gameplay, Team Top-G prevailed in the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2023, organized by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI), and qualified for the regional qualifiers of the Global Esports Games (GEG) 2023. The team will now battle it out against Malaysia and Mongolia in the regionals to secure their berth in the global finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Under the leadership of Manav Kunte (mnz), the squad comprising Krish Gupta (Krish-), Khaja Hussain (Pinkman), Ketan Goyal (Evil-ash), Vishal Vernekar (Hbk) and substitute Darshan Bata (A35) toppled The Mob by 2-0 in the best-of-three finals. Team Top-G had also represented India in the Asian qualifiers of DOTA 2 for the 15th World Esports Championships earlier this year. ESFI announced the NESC 2023 recently to pick the Indian contingent for the upcoming GEG 2023 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

AKEF Gaming Utsav 2023

Towards the end of August, hundreds of gaming enthusiasts converged at AMD and Windows 11 Sponsored AKEF Gaming Utsav 2023. The Onam-themed event saw the presence of celebrities including rapper Fejo, actress Cerena Ann, and more than 50 gaming influencers and streamers. Gods Reign took the crown at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium, Bangalore at the INR 2 Crore Prize Pool tournament, Skyesports Masters. The team took down Revenant Esports in the thrilling two-day Grand Finale to become the inaugural champions of India’s first-ever franchised Esports tournament.

BGMI Masters Series

NODWIN Gaming, in association with sports broadcast giants Star Sports and gaming and esports platform Rooter, saw the successful culmination of a blockbuster season of the BGMI Masters Series. The 22-day mega BGMI-LAN event which kicked off on August 4 with 24 teams saw a host of qualified and invited teams battle it out for BGMI Masters glory. Amidst several contending esports outfits, it was Gladiators Esports who took the crown and the INR 1 crore prizemoney with an exhilarating high-octane BGMI Masters Series Grand Finals performance.
