In today´s digitized world, technology is always busy. Here is a look at what it has been up to in the past month across sectors such as entertainment tech, Cloud, communication management, ITSM, and knowledge sharing.

Entertainment: Zooppy

Developed by Kerala based tech enthusiasts, Zooppy is India’s first Indian online fantasy platform for movies. It´s live on Apple IOS and Android devices across India. Audiences can use their knowledge and skills in movies and win real cash over multiple formats.

This movie based fantasy game has been developed by Quarous Technologies led by Kerala based tech enthusiasts Yuva Pushpakar, Jose Thomas, Athul P. Raj, Mefin Thomas, Renjith Robert and Deepak Uthaman.

The platform provides a glimpse of the recent news and developments in the movie industry conjoined with a critical bird’s eye view of new releases in theatres and other streaming platforms. The core of the business is to leverage the patented technology to offer online movie based skill competitions.

Cloud: Trend Micro Regional XDR Data Lake

Trend Micro, the cloud security organization announced the launch of its regional data lake for XDR in India for its customers, after similar launches in Sydney and Singapore. The company also provides Cloud App Security (for Office 365 environments) and Apex One SaaS (Software as a Service) with local sandbox capability made available out of its data center in India, to address the growing concerns around data localization and sovereignty issues.

This announcement comes at the back of Trend Micro launching its local managed XDR data center service in India last year. Trend Micro XDR is the first in the cybersecurity industry that offers the most extensive correlated detection going beyond endpoint detection and response (EDR). It collects and analyses activity data from emails, endpoints, servers, cloud workloads, and networks, enabling security operations center (SOC) teams to detect, investigate, and respond to advanced threats.

Powered by cloud data lake, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, XDR reduces alert fatigue and addresses the challenges faced by SOC analysts.

Communication Management System: Newgen OmniOMS 9.0

Newgen Software, a global provider of low code digital automation platform, has launched OmniOMS 9.0, an upgraded version of its customer communication management system. The latest version of the software provides a robust and unified communications platform linking a variety of information types, information sources, and distribution channels. The embedded functionalities enable users with easy customer communication creation, design composition change management, distribution, and control.

Key features of OmniOMS 9.0 include web design enhancements that facilitate user-friendly design options for PDFs, e-mails, SMSes, and WhatsApp notifications. It also features HTML import option and object gallery to re-use texts/images.

OmniOMS 9.0 is supported on Windows 2012/2016/2019 (64 bit) Enterprise Server and RedHat Enterprise Linux 7.x,8.x platforms. It also offers cloud support for AWS and Microsoft Azure environments.

ITSM: Atlassian Jira Service Management

Atlassian Corporation, a leading provider of team collaboration and productivity software and the maker of Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Trello products, has extended its footprint in IT service management (ITSM) with the launch of Jira Service Management, a cloud-based tool. With an aim of bringing IT operations and development teams together to collaborate at high velocity and power digital enterprises, Atlassian has introduced Jira Service Management to address IT support processes more easily.

Jira Service Management is the next evolution of Jira Service Desk, Atlassian’s popular help desk solution, and builds on the capabilities already provided in Jira Service Desk with new functionality. More than 25,000 organizations employ Jira Service Desk currently, which provides the base of customers from which Atlassian intends to drive convergence of DevOps and ITSM workflows. Teams can leverage a low-code approach to defining and refining their own workflows and record types, all while remaining standardized on Jira.

Knowledge Sharing: Yoda

The rise in on-demand digital content has brought an evident shift in consumer preferences leading to digital content consumption increasing at a resounding rate. To cater to this demand, entrepreneurs Vineet Chirania, Amit Bansal, Amit Mishra, and Kanishk Mehta have launched the Yoda app. Built as a knowledge-sharing visual platform, the app lets the creator and consumer exchange their knowledge with the help of images and info-graphs.

This learning-oriented app offers useful content across topics like Business, Psychology, Politics, Entertainment, etc. and enables students and professionals to learn entrepreneurship, technology, marketing, history, science, mathematics, business, geography, and much more within 20 seconds.

What makes Yoda stand out from the rest is that the app conveys the information in a single-screen infographic. It helps the digitally-connected user to stay informed and updated about the current happenings and learn about them on-the-go be it while travelling or commuting to work.
