Spice launches three new Android smartphones under its new Stellar series

Spice launched a new series of smartphones called Stellar, all based on Android OS. The Stellar series includes Spice Stellar (Mi-425), Spice Stellar Horizon (Mi-500) and the Spice Stellar Craze (Mi-355).

Spice has also announced that the company has partnered with NQ Mobile to provide security solutions for these devices. The phones will come pre-loaded with Netqin anti-virus applications to protect against viruses, data loss, theft and financial security. All the three devices will also get 100 MB of free data every month for the first year via Aircel.

The Spice Stellar (priced at Rs. 9,999) sports a 4-inch display of 800×480 pixel resolution and it is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 245MHz GPU. The device runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, however Spice has mentioned that it will be upgradable to Android 4.0 ICS. The device also includes a 5 megapixel rear camera with autofocus and flash, it has a front facing VGA camera, 512MB of RAM and up to 32GB of expandable storage via microSD card. It comes with a decent 2000 mAh battery which is rated for up to 7 hours talktime and up to 120 hours of standby.

The Spice Stellar Horizon (priced at Rs. 11,999) comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and sports a 5-inch display. This is a dual-SIM capable smartphone which is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, supported with a 300MHz GPU. It has a 5 megapixel rear camera with autofocus and flash and a secondary front facing VGA quality camera.

Finally there’s the Spice Stellar Craze (priced at Rs. 6,499) the most affordable amongst the three. It also runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and is expected to get an Android 4.0 ICS update sometime in the future. This device has a 3.5-inch display and it is powered by an 800MHz processor.

All the devices will soon be available in India through more than 50,000 retail stores, 750+ Spice HotSpot retail network and online retailer Saholic.
