VUclip Comes Out with a New Technology for Buffer-Free Video Viewing on Mobile

Vuclip, the world’s largest independent mobile video and media firm, has developed a new streaming technology which it claims will offer a buffer-free video viewing on mobile devices.

The company said its Dynamic Adaptive Transcoding Technology enables users to watch videos without the annoyance of buffering, no matter if he/she is on a 2G, 3G, 4G, or WiFi network, and helps users to save on time and data costs.

This technology simultaneously transcodes the content and dynamically adapts the video stream to the constantly varying bandwidths, to offer a buffer-free viewing experience. The technology is currently available only in Vuclip’s Android version.

Headquartered in Milpitas, California, Vuclip was co-founded by Indian-origin entrepreneur Nickhil Jakatdar (CEO) and Zhigang Chen (CTO), and provides video on the fly – on any device and in any country. It also has offices in Mumbai, Singapore, Shenzhen, Beijing and Los Angeles.

Last November, the company had secured $13 million in Series D, led by a new investor, SingTel Innov8, besides existing investors NEA and Jafco Ventures. In May 2012 it had raised $8 million in Series C from NEA and Jafco.

The firm has a significant presence in India and has companies like UTV Motion Pictures, Reliance Entertainment and Bharti Airtel leveraging its platform. Last month, the firm announced that it has touched over 80 million unique users monthly around the world.

It has also partnered with Vega, Whacked Out Media and MAA TV, Associated Press, etc., for monetizing mobile video content. Global brands such as Cadbury and Samsung are also using the Vuclip platform. The company has recently introduced an iOS app and browser strategy to address the needs of all mobile video viewers.

In February this year, Vuclip acquired the core assets of Indian Angel Network (IAN)-backed Jigsee, a mobile video streaming company, for an undisclosed sum.
